About MEKA

Founded in 2001 by Renshi Mark and Sensei Anna Gorman, Mountain Eagle Karate Academy (MEKA) has been a cornerstone of martial arts in Albuquerque. Both began their journeys at The University of New Mexico—Mark in 1983 and Anna in 1997. Mark, a 7th-degree black belt, ran UNM’s martial arts program before establishing MEKA, where they’ve since trained thousands of students, many of whom started as kids and continue into adulthood.

As inductees in the United States Karate Association Hall of Fame, Mark and Anna bring unmatched expertise to their dojo. Anna, a 5th-degree black belt, is 8-time USKA National Champion and 4-time World Champion.

At MEKA, students of all ages find a supportive, family-friendly environment where they’re inspired to excel in karate and life.
