Youth beginner karate classes teach students all the fundamentals of martial arts skills in a fun, interactive environment where they can learn quickly and master the basics. We use a rewarding belt system that builds their confidence while instilling the critical life skills of self-discipline, good manners, respect, integrity, fitness, honesty, and ultimate focus.
Karate teaches kids how to focus, listen, and do what they are asked the first time. It teaches them how to work hard, how to be disciplined, humble, and so much more. Students at MEKA have the opportunity to achieve a lot. The more they achieve, the more they believe in themselves, and their confidence soars.
We hope to see you soon!
Mark and Anna Gorman
Owners and Chief Instructors
Mountain Eagle Karate Academy (MEKA) was founded by owners and Chief Instructors Mark and Anna Gorman in 2001. Our very first students were young children who have gone on to become amazingly successful college students , and we still love teaching karate to kids today.
Martial arts is about so much more than "punching and kicking". It helps students reach their fullest potential both mentally and physically. Every class is packed with lessons on character development that can stay with your child for the rest of their life.

"Renshi Mark and Sensei Anna of Mountain Eagle Karate Academy came to our elementary school a few years ago to give kids a chance to try karate. I signed Sasha up for the trial but I wasn't sure if it would be something she would like. Well, during that week, she didn't just learn karate, she learned so much about respect for herself and those around her, self-discipline, focus, kindness, and of course, super cool moves and animal poses! Sasha has continued with MEKA since that initial trial period and now is in the junior black belt club. This is not your typical karate studio. Renshi Mark and Sensei Anna care deeply about their students and will do whatever it takes to ensure students' success. They teach things that every person should know. Oh, and they don't just teach karate and the principles that accompany it, they live by those principles with respect, strength, and amazing abilities! We love our MEKA family! :-)"

"Our daughter has been attending MEKA for almost two years, and we can not say enough good things about the program. With their focus on self-discipline and growth, we have seen a remarkable increase in our daughter's self confidence. Sensei Anna has a gentle, yet inspiring coaching style that elicits the potential in her students. She demands hard work and focus, but does it in a positive, encouraging way. We will remain with MEKA so that our daughter can continue to be mentored by a karate world champion."

Maybe the best testimonial I can give is that Mountain Eagle just keeps growing and growing. Once your child starts coming here, he (she) will never want to leave. My favorite aspect of the program is that it's geared to all types of learners: kids serious about karate, and those who just want to have an hour of fun are both welcome.
